Root Canal, Gum Care & Oral Surgery

About this service line

This group covers the everyday dental care that international patients most often combine with a visit: root canal treatment to save an infected or painful tooth, treatment of bleeding or receding gums, extractions and other oral surgery including wisdom teeth, routine check-ups and cleaning, and gentle dentistry for children.

Our contracted dental clinic in İstanbul carries out root canal treatment, gum (periodontal) therapy, oral surgery, general dental care and paediatric dentistry, usually within a single stay. Where a tooth is removed, the clinic also plans its replacement, so an extraction and an implant consultation can happen on the same trip.

As an international patient you send a recent panoramic X-ray if you have one, or photographs and a description of the problem. The dentist tells you before you travel what is likely to be needed and how many days to allow, and confirms the plan after examining you.

What to expect

The four stages every international patient goes through with us.

  1. 01

    Examination and X-rays

A full check of teeth and gums with a panoramic X-ray and small X-rays of any painful tooth. The dentist explains what is found and which treatments can be completed within your stay.

  2. 02

    Treatment

Root canal treatment usually takes one or two sessions under local anaesthesia; the cleaned canals are sealed and the tooth is restored. Extractions and wisdom-tooth surgery are done under local anaesthesia, and gum treatment with deep cleaning of the roots.

  3. 03

    Recovery in İstanbul

A day or two of rest with soft food after an extraction; mild discomfort is managed with ordinary pain relief. The clinic checks the wound before you travel and gives written aftercare instructions.

  4. 04

    Follow-up from home

A root-treated tooth may need its permanent crown at a later visit or with your own dentist; gum health needs regular cleaning at home. The clinic stays in touch and tells you what to watch for.

Common questions

Is a root canal painful?

The treatment is done under local anaesthesia and most people feel pressure rather than pain; it usually relieves the toothache that brought them in. Some tenderness on biting for a few days afterwards is normal.

Can I fly after a tooth extraction?

Usually within one to three days for a simple extraction and a little longer after wisdom-tooth surgery, once the clinic has checked the socket. Flying itself does not harm the wound; the aftercare instructions matter more.

Can this be combined with implants or veneers in the same trip?

Often, yes: gum treatment and cleaning are usually done before cosmetic work, and an extraction can be combined with implant planning. The dentist sequences the treatments so that healing times are respected, and tells you if a second visit is needed.

General information, not dental advice. Your treatment plan is set by the treating dentist after an examination.
