Aesthetic service line

Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics)

About this service line

Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose: a hump on the bridge, a wide or drooping tip, a crooked profile or a nose that feels out of proportion with the face. When the septum inside the nose is also deviated, breathing and shape are corrected in the same operation, called septorhinoplasty.

Our contracted surgeons in İstanbul perform primary and revision rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty and tip refinement, using an open or closed technique depending on what needs to change. The aim is a nose that suits your face and breathes well, not a standard shape.

As an international patient you send photographs of your nose from the front, both sides and below, and describe what you would like to change and any breathing problems. The surgeon reviews them, discusses what is realistic and proposes a plan before you travel.

Conditions treated

  • A nose that looks crooked or out of proportion with the face
  • Blocked breathing from a deviated septum, together with shape
  • A result from earlier nose surgery you would like revised
  • A nose changed by an injury

Procedures performed

  • Primary rhinoplasty
  • Septorhinoplasty (breathing and shape together)
  • Revision rhinoplasty
  • Nasal tip refinement

What to expect

The four stages every international patient goes through with us.

  1. 01

    Consultation and photographs

Standard photographs are taken and the inside of the nose is examined for breathing. The surgeon explains what can change and what cannot, and shows a simulation where the clinic offers one.

  2. 02

    Surgery

Under general anaesthesia, usually two to three hours, through incisions inside the nose or with a small additional incision under the tip for the open technique. A splint protects the nose for the first week.

  3. 03

    Recovery in İstanbul

Most patients go home from hospital the same day or after one night. The splint and any stitches are removed after five to seven days; bruising around the eyes fades over one to two weeks.

  4. 04

    Follow-up from home

Swelling settles gradually, especially at the tip, and the final shape takes up to a year to appear. You send photographs at agreed intervals; glasses and contact sports wait until the surgeon clears them.

Common questions

Will rhinoplasty change how I breathe?

It should not make it worse, and when a deviated septum or narrow valves are found at the examination they are corrected in the same operation. Tell the surgeon about any blocked breathing before you travel so it is part of the plan.

When can I fly home?

Usually once the splint is off, around day seven, after the surgeon has checked the nose. Flying earlier is not advised because of pressure changes and swelling.

Will there be a visible scar?

With the closed technique all incisions are inside the nose. The open technique adds a short incision across the skin between the nostrils, which usually fades to a fine line that is hard to see.
